My yoga journey

Vino Vinyasa – Hot Yoga

on March 9, 2015

On Friday I tried Hot Yoga for the first time at Canning Street Yoga, a small studio in the West End of Edinburgh. On Friday evening they do a class called Vino Vinyasa. Which I quote from their website
Hot – The room is gently heated (to a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius) in order to help deepen your practice.
Vinyasa – A creative, energetic, Vinyasa flow class that integrates the fundamentals of yoga through imaginative sequencing and a steady breath.
Vino – Sample the wines of the week after class and get to know your fellow students and CSY staff. We also have lots and lots of water to drink. 😉

It sounds great doesn’t it. Hence two friends and I went along to try it. We were welcomed to the studio and shown around. After getting changed we had to fill in disclaimers and chatted to the staff about any injuries that we had. The room was heated with fan heaters and was warm but not too hot (this may have been as it was a cold day). The class was taught by Amanda who has a really nice relaxed friendly style. There were only 8 of us in the class so we were given different options and adjustments depending on how our practice was. The class went fast and I felt that it was challenging without being too much of a challenge.

After the class we all were encouraged to drink some water and then were given a glass of fizz. The whole class and two studio staff then sat in the reception area and chatted. It was a nice social atmosphere and let you get to know people in the class. It’s not something that I’m going to do every week but certainly at least once a month I’m going to try to make it to this class as it’s a really nice way to end the week.
