Sleeping in Savasana

My yoga journey

Heels down in downward dog

on May 8, 2015

I’ve been noticing more progress in various positions and this week I was really pleased to find that I could easily get my heels to the ground in Downward Dog. Not just towards the end of practice once I’ve warmed up and stretched out my hamstrings properly but from the second downward dog onwards.

Ignore my upper back in the photo, it’s currently really tight and I’m working on easing it off.

I remember when I started doing yoga more regularly in January and in one class the teacher said, ‘eventually downward dog will feel like rest and be effortless’. It’s not quite effortless yet but it’s starting to feel easier and almost rest like. I hope that in another three months it will start to feel effortless.

I also feel that I’m making progress in other poses and am really enjoying my practice at the moment. I feel like I am stretching out more and starting to have better alignment.
