Sleeping in Savasana

My yoga journey

Yoga for Alzheimer’s

on May 13, 2016

A really interesting study has been released from the University of Adelaide about the effects of doing yoga on Alzheimer’s. The Telegraph has a nice summary of the study.

Doing yoga once a week along with 20 minutes of meditation every day was shown to be better at improving spatial awareness than those doing brain training exercises including crosswords. It’s good to see that both options are being explored but what I would find very interesting is if they tried doing both and seeing what the result was. Maybe that’ll be the next stage of the study.

Still it’s good to know that doing yoga has been scientifically proven to improve my mind as well as my body. I know that I feel that it’s helped me but it’s always difficult to explain to others, especially those who are a bit sceptical that it’s all sitting in meditation and going OM.
