Sleeping in Savasana

My yoga journey

Upset Students

on August 4, 2016

A few weeks ago someone came to class who had suffered quite a traumatic experience a few days beforehand. She was very open about it and said that she wanted to do class. It was difficult for me as I wanted to just give her a huge hug and make her a cup of tea and listen to her talk. But that wasn’t my place or what she needed. So I switched the class from one I had planned and did an opening class instead. It was very much a class with lots of heart opening and quite chilled. Plus as we went into plow pose and one student finds it challenging and always ends up giggling as I pull her into it set off the rest of the class so everyone was laughing at one point.
The others in the class were very supportive and I love how people can silently prove energy and care to others. I know that it helped her relax and I hope forget thing even for a short while. I gave her a hug at the end of class and I checked in with her the next day and she said it was a lovely class.
It’s something that I’m going to speak to my yoga teacher training leader about as I think it was a useful learning experience but I want to be better prepared for something like it happening again.
