Sleeping in Savasana

My yoga journey

Exploring Ayurvedic practice

on August 6, 2016

I’m working on expanding my knowledge of all things yoga. Something that I knew very little about was ayurvedic medicine and practice. When someone linked to the Sister Science free online course which is 14 days long and only takes 20-30 minutes per day. I thought it’d be an easy way to learn more.

Ayurvedic practice is quite different from my personal style of yoga. In yin, there is no ideal pose or position, only what works for you. Ayurvedic practice seems to have a lot of rules about what will make you into your ideal state. Another thing that I’ve struggled with is that it’s supposed to not be fully understood your meant to trust that it works and that thousands of years of experience just work. I struggle with this as I’m quite scientifically minded, I don’t need to understand why something works but I generally want to know that there is evidence behind it.

Still I’m sticking with it and it’s only day five of the course so I’m a third through it. I’ll keep going and learning and even if I don’t apply it in practice it’s useful to know more so when others comment on it then I’m informed.
