Sleeping in Savasana

My yoga journey

Yoga: the poetry of the body

on October 2, 2016

I don’t think I’ve been so excited by a book for quite a while. In class last week the theme was grounding so I found a passage online that I liked and read it in class. It fitted well with the theme and I looked more into the writer that had written it.

A short google search later I found that it was from Yoga the poetry of the body by Rodney Lee. I found a second hand copy for less than £5 delivered on Amazon so ordered it.

It actually arrived last Friday but I left it at work and only started reading it on Monday night before class but I’ve now read most of it.

I’ve been reading a few books as part of my yoga teacher training but this is the first that I’ve immediately gone, ‘yes that’s how I feel and that’s my yoga’.

I also really like his descriptions of poses. They are simply discribed and the sequences that he gives work really nicely. I can’t wait to use some of the readings and information from the book in classes.

I was a bit disappointed when I did more research into Rodney Yee that he’d been involved with students and that there was related scandal but I think it might me a men in positions of power thing rather than just exclusively yogi men thing.
