Exploring Aromatherapy

Everything is linked and sometimes it’s really hard to separate out things. I started thinking about why I’d suddenly got more interested in aromatherapy oils and exploring them but when I think about it it’s not been that sudden a process. 

My hip has been less bad over the past month but its still been causing me some issues sleeping on a regular basis. As a result of trying to not take any more drugs than I currently am, I looked at aromatherapy options as they’ve helped before. I’ve started using a rollerball with lavender, Jasmin and ylang ylang oils in. It’s a really nice combination and it now is associated with sleep to me. It seems to have helped with my issues sleeping and makes for a nice nighttime ritual to put it on my neck and wrists. 

Another one that I have been using for about a year is a peppermint, menthol and eucalyptus inhaler. I got a pack of them for about £2 when in Thailand and they really work. I have sniffles currently and every couple of hours I inhale it and it means I go from sniffing and feeling a bit meh to being able to breath fine. Again it’s way more natural than taking decongestants all the time. I’m not sure it’d be enough for a proper full blown cold but to keep seasonal sniffles at bay it seems to work. 

I’ve also started using aromatherapy oils when at the office. I’ve got a focus roller ball with rosemary, grapefruit and coriander oil that I use when I’m having a bit of a slump. It smells gorgeous and it again helps me calm down and get on with what needs to be done. 

I feel that I don’t yet know enough to start blending my own mixes of oils so I’m mainly sticking to buying pre-blended oils but maybe that’s the next step.
