Laughter Yoga Leader Training

A few months ago one of my students told me that the class we’d done the week before was awesome as we’d spent the class laughing and she slept so well after it. I looked into laughter and the effects and discovered laughter yoga.

There was a laughter yoga leader training coming up a few weeks later but I couldn’t make those dates so asked to be told about the next one. That was in the middle of February and it was great fun.

It’s a really good course and only two days. It was quite focused on how to run a laughter club session. I’m not sure that it’s something that I want to do but I aim to be able to bring some of it into yoga classes.

For a start it was held in the Jedi training room and was run by Jo who has been teaching for seven years and is super enthusiastic and full of joy.


Laughter sessions start with an introduction telling people about the benefits and how the session will work.

Then it moves onto laughter exercises. These involve laughing and making eye contact with the group. They feel a bit odd at first but then they become funny and you end up laughing lots.

Then you move on to a laughter meditation. This is lying on the floor with heads together in a circle and just laughing. Then you go into a guided relaxation.

There is still a lot for me to learn and some of the suggested reading is below. Yep it’s going to keep me busy for a while.
